L.D.C. - technically speaking
Every day, every one of us is faced with different cleaning problems - from removing grease and grime from kitchen counters and appliances, to cleaning woodwork and walls, to opening drains or protecting hands before gardening. Numerous cleaning jobs await us at home or in the office. You can tell your customers that it makes much better sense in terms of efficiency and practicality to have LDC around the house. LDC is one of the most intelligent choices they can make when considering the fantastic cleaning abilities of this superb GNLD Product.

The key to LDC’s powerful cleaning action is its very concentrated formulation of three detergents: Mono- and di-ethanolamine salts of linear dodecyl benzene sulfonate, non-ionic surfactant and coconut di-ethanolamide. The names of these detergents may be intimidating at first, but once you understand what they do, you’ll not only have gained an understanding of one of GNLD’s most important products, but you’ll also feel comfortable telling your customers about the ingredients that make LDC such a powerful and versatile cleaner.

LDC means good but gentle cleaning

The mono- and di-ethanolamine salts of linear dodecyl benzene sulfonate are biodegradable synthetic detergent compounds. Because of their superior cleaning power, they are considered to be the “work horse” of the formula.

During manufacturing this ingredient is created by a neutralizing process. This means good but gentle cleaning. Non-ionic surfactants are not affected by hard water, and very effectively solubilize dirt in water. (Solubilization is the drawing out and collecting together of all the dirt particles, so that whatever article you wash is cleaned right through.) The surfactants penetrate grease and oil stains on hard surfaces and lift the stains off in the cleaning water.

. . . very mild and gentle to the skin . . .

Coconut di-ethanolamide is a coconut derivative and is used as a cleaner, foam stabilizer and viscosity (thickness) controller. It too is very mild and gentle to the skin.

These three detergents combine to form a very concentrated, high-foaming, mild detergent system with excellent cleaning capabilities. They are also surfactants (an abbreviated term for “surface active agents”), acting as emulsifiers, solubilizers and wetting agents. A surfactant molecule has an oil-soluble (hydrophobic) portion at one end, and a water-soluble (hydrophillic) portion at the other. This enables the surfactant to surround the oil, and have its hydrophobic portion in the oil, and its hydrophillic portion in the water. This is how it suspends oil in water, which we know as emulsification.

Surfactants also act to reduce the surface tension of water. Surface tension is the reluctance of water molecules to break apart. This is why small soil particles, fabric or string appear to lie on top of water and never get wet.

The three surfactants in LDC dramatically reduce the surface tension in the water, making the water ”wetter”. Because of this, the fabric is penetrated quickly and thoroughly, the cleaning water comes into direct contact with the dirt particles, and cleaning becomes that much easier. In practical use, LDC easily penetrates the dirt, and quickly begins to emulsify and solubilize it. When some mechanical action (such as scrubbing) is added, the dirt is lifted off the surface of the dish or fabric and becomes totally entrapped in the cleaning water.

LDC can tackle almost any cleaning task

From your specially delicate surfaces to the chrome on your car, LDC can effectively and gently tackle almost any cleaning task. It is highly concentrated, giving you the opportunity to dilute or strengthen your cleaning liquid according to requirements of any specific cleaning chore. Even though LDC is effective on the toughest of cleaning tasks, it is very easy on your hands. To demonstrate how mild it is (the coconut derivatives help make it gentle to the skin), put a drop or two in your hand. Rub it in and notice how your hand becomes soft, smooth and satiny.

In addition to being mild, LDC is phosphate-free and biodegradable, which means that the surfactants are broken down by natural biological action, helping to eliminate pollution problems in our lakes and rivers.

You can now face cleaning with confidence

With GNLD’s LDC, you can face almost any cleaning task with confidence. Confidence that you are using a quality product that is environmentally sound, that will penetrate even the toughest dirt, and will be gentle to your hands.
