Hi Candice.

Carotenoid Complex is made from carrot, red bell pepper, tomato, spinach, apricot, strawberry, and peach extracts in a base of pure olive oil. A little natural vitamin E is added (6 i.u. per capsule) to stop oxidation.

Because the supplement is made entirely from whole food, I would say it is safe to take during pregnancy, provided you are not allergic to any of the component foods. Some people get a rash with strawberries, for example.

It is always best to check with your medical doctor, so please show him/her the Carotenoid Complex label, which you can download here: http://s3.amazonaws.com/static.gnld.com/za/product/2564/label.pdf

You may also like to discuss with your doctor if it is possible to delay the "light chemo" until your baby is born.

If you do a search on Dr. Mercola's website ( http://www.mercola.com ), you will find many articles on natural treatments, which could at least delay the "light chemo" until after baby has arrived.

hello. i recently had a lumpectomy done and the lump tested positive for cancer (approx stage 2). the lymph nodes were negative for cancer and the margins were close but clear. It is recommended that i start radio therapy and light chemo. however i am 4 weeks pregnant now, so radiation is out for sure. i want to know if i can take the carotenoid complex during pregnancy. thank you

Hi Osita.
Children can take Vita Squares and Vita Guard as soon as they are old enough to safely chew food. Even then, break the tablets into very small pieces, or better still, dissolve them in water. At that time they could also have a drink of Nutrishake, and chew an Omega 3 Salmon Oil capsule.
Before that age it's dangerous to give things to chew, because very young children and infants cannot handle tablets or capsules safely, and they may get stuck in their wind-pipes, with disastrous consequences.

Hi Dorrie. Thanks for visiting, and for your good question.
As far as I know, there have been no specific clinical studies of Carotenoid Complex for people with HIV/AIDS, so I can't claim it will definitely help. However, Carotenoid Complex has been proven to help boost the human immune system, and I'm sure the benefit would be even more advantageous for a sick person.

Hello Monday.
I'm not sure exactly what you mean by 'improve my vision'.
Of course, Carotenoid Complex will not improve short-sight, for example, because that is caused by the physical characteristics of your eyes.
However, if you google carotenoids and eye health there are pages and pages of articles describing the benefits of carotenoids such as zeaxanthin and lutein to improve age-related macular degeneration and other conditions of the eyes.
GNLD's unique Carotenoid Complex contains not only zeaxanthin and lutein often referred to in Google, it also has alpha-carotene, beta-carotene, gamma-carotene, zeta-carotene, cis-beta-carotene, lycopene, cis-lycopene, alpha-cryptoxanthin, and beta-cryptoxanthin.
All these carotenes help to strengthen your immune system generally, and support eye health by supplying the antioxidant carotenoids found in high concentrations in various parts of normal, healthy eyes.
